Heat pump vs gas boiler — the numbers, and every grant that changes them

What changed in the grant data, and when

Every correction, every amount, every price change — with the date we made it and the government page we made it from. This exists because a grant site that never shows its edits is a grant site nobody can check.

Subscribe: The feed updates whenever a figure changes. If you advise homeowners for a living, that is probably more useful than the pages themselves. changes-uk.xml (RSS)

Why publish this at all

Three reasons. It is the only honest way to run a database whose whole value is that it is current — you can see when we last touched a number and decide for yourself whether to trust it. It makes our mistakes visible, which is the price of being trusted about the rest. And it turns out the changes are often the story: the £9,000 that is really £1,500, the Czech grant that quietly became a loan.

DE Clarification 2026-08-11

WasBase grant falls 30 % → 15 % in February 2027
NowBase grant falls 30 % → 15 % in Q1 2027, with a proposed 15-point bonus for EU-origin heat pumps

The cut is close to neutral for an EU-made heat pump and a real halving for a non-EU one. Reporting that omits the value-creation bonus overstates the loss for most buyers and understates it for some.
