How much of the £400m Boiler Upgrade Scheme budget is left?
Ofgem publishes one number that matters: the remaining budget for the current scheme year. As at 30 June 2026 it was £286,385,000 of the £400m allocated for the year to 31 March 2027. That means about £113.6m was already committed in the first three months.
Projection at the observed run rate
At £37.9m a month, the remaining £286.4m lasts about 7.6 more months — which lands around February 2027, before the scheme year ends on 31 March 2027. That is arithmetic, not a forecast, and Ofgem is explicit about why:
Ofgem: remaining budget includes all undetermined applications and vouchers issued but not yet redeemed. It is a dynamic figure — when vouchers expire or are returned, budget becomes available again. Any run-rate projection on this page is arithmetic, not a forecast.

What this means if you are applying
- The scheme has not run out of money, and there is no queue you can be pushed out of retroactively. A voucher, once issued, is yours to redeem within its validity period.
- The risk is the opposite way round: if the year's budget is fully committed before 31 March 2027, new vouchers stop being issued until the next year's allocation opens. That is the scenario worth planning around.
- The oil and LPG uplift ends 31 March 2027 anyway, so for off-gas-grid homes the two deadlines coincide. Details of the uplift.
